What is Subtle Practice?

“Only by discovering alchemy have I clearly understood that the unconscious is a process and that ego’s rapport with the unconscious and its contents initiate an evolution, more precisely, an metamorphosis of the psyche.”

—C.G. Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections

Creative life, in practice

Subtle Practice is an approach to inner work rooted in the art of alchemy. The alchemists spoke of turning lead into gold, but their true laboratory was always the soul: a practice of transformation where matter, image, and spirit meet.

At Subtle Practice, we draw from this lineage of transformation. Our work invites you into a living relationship with psyche, body, and imagination — to discover the inexhaustible gold within.

Through embodied practice we give form to what stirs beneath the surface. We meet the body, breath, dream image, and symbol as living forces that can be felt, voiced, and expressed.

This is not transformation for its own sake, but for the sake of creative individuation. Subtle Practice orients us toward living a creative life — one in which individuation is not only psychological but also artistic, expressive, and alive in the body. By bringing the known and unknown parts of ourselves into dialogue, we open the wellspring of imagination, cultivate vision, and root ourselves more deeply in the creative ground of being.

Subtle Practice is both discipline and devotion — a return to the inner source where practice and world meet, and where life reveals itself as sacred, unfolding, and always in the making.

Meet Alma, SP Founder

I am an artist, scholar, teacher, and facilitator working at the confluence of psyche, body, and imagination. My path into this work has been shaped as much by lived initiations as by study — years of listening to dreams, encounters with loss and love, and a devotion to practices that bring me into dialogue with the unseen.

My studies in Jungian, depth, and archetypal psychology, Transdisciplinarity, alchemy, contemplative practice, and the classical lineage of Tantra have informed me in the subtle art of listening to the imaginal.

I founded Subtle Practice as a vessel for this work — a place where alchemy and embodied practice meet, and where others can enter into an intimate dialogue with their own depths. My teaching arises from lived experience: years of dream attunement, ritual practice, and creative inquiry that have become not just disciplines but ways of life.

At the heart of my work is a devotion to creative individuation — cultivating the inner ground from which imagination, freedom, and beauty emerge, and orienting us toward lives that are not only whole but also deeply creative and alive.
