The Free Quarterly
A free, seasonal creative cohort

The Free Quarterly is a seasonal creative practice for transdisciplinary artists, writers, thinkers, makers, and anyone drawn into a more intentional relationship with imagination.

Four times each year we gather over the course of a moon cycle to tend a single creative inquiry, planting it like a seed within our inner soil. Rather than moving toward productivity or mastery, we practice sustained attention, curiosity, and playful experimentation, creating the conditions for new forms of thought, perception, and expression to emerge.

Each year the cohort gathers around a larger volume theme. In 2026, our shared inquiry is Creative Utopias—an exploration of the qualities and conditions necessary for our personal and collective creative life to flourish. Throughout the year we move through four chapters, each exploring one essential condition for a flourishing creative life.

What participation looks like

The Free Quarterly is both a personal practice and a shared field of inquiry.

Each cohort unfolds over the course of a moon cycle through a gentle rhythm of daily practice, written prompts, voice recordings, and optional community exchange. The intention is not to accomplish something, but to cultivate a living relationship with your own creative process.

Our daily practice is intentionally simple:

  • 3 minutes of Sat Kriya meditation

  • 3 pages of free writing

  • Show up.

These practices invite us to return, day after day, to the creative seed we've chosen to tend. Rather than striving for mastery or a particular outcome, we practice attention. We become curious about what emerges when we meet ourselves consistently and allow imagination to unfold in its own time.

Participation is entirely self-directed. Some members engage quietly through their own private practice. Others choose to share reflections, works-in-progress, or discoveries with the cohort. There is no expectation to keep pace with every prompt or engage with every offering. Our guiding maxim remains:

Take only what calls to you and leave the rest.

Chapter 3
October 8 - November 10, 2026

Our third chapter turns toward the theme of Trust.

Trust is one of the essential conditions for a flourishing creative life. Every genuine act of creation asks us to step beyond what we already know, to remain present without certainty, and to move before we can fully see the path ahead.

This month we'll explore trust not as confidence or blind faith, but as a practice of relationship—with ourselves, with imagination, with uncertainty, and with the living intelligence that often reveals itself only after we've begun.

Together we'll ask:

  • What creates a secure inner foundation?

  • What allows us to loosen our grip on certainty?

  • What becomes possible when we trust the unfolding more than the outcome?

The next cohort begins October 10. Join here.
