The Art of Making Sacred Space
Live Workshop Series (Online)
September 20 - December 21, 2025
Facilitated by Ceara Metlikovec
Artist and facilitator Ceara Metlikovec guides a three-month journey into the art of making sacred space. We begin at the September equinox, a moment of balance between light and dark, and move together toward the December solstice. Whether entering autumn in the northern hemisphere or spring in the southern, this seasonal passage offers a natural container for orienting inward, clarifying intentions, and cultivating a practice of presence. Within this span of time, Ceara invites participants to explore altar-building—learning how to clear, claim, and consecrate a space in the home that becomes a living vessel for prayer, reflection, and connection. Each altar becomes an expression of relation: with the four directions, the elemental forces, the cycles of the moon, and one’s own archetypal nature.
Meeting once each lunar cycle, we will return to our altars as living spaces of presence and devotion. Ceara draws from her lifelong practice of gathering elements, arranging, and attuning to what emerges in the stillness of sacred space. Through this shared rhythm of creation and reflection, the altar reveals itself as both mirror and threshold—a site of ritual encounter where intention takes root and subtle transformation unfolds across the arc from equinox to solstice.

Facilitator Ceara Metlikovec
Ceara Metlikovec is an artist and facilitator whose work is deeply rooted in the natural world. After studying at the National Art School and the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, and teaching visual arts for a number of years, she immersed herself in her own practice. Her work has since been exhibited internationally, from Sydney Contemporary and Art Basel Hong Kong to exhibitions in New Zealand and the UK.
Guided by a daily attunement to the earth—its materials, rhythms, and unseen frequencies—Ceara’s sculptures, paintings, and installations carry a quiet, meditative presence. Her large-scale works, such as Ik Tara (composed of more than 5,000 handmade clay bricks reflecting on the electromagnetic field that surrounds all living beings), invite us into relationship with cycles, seasons, and the subtle forces that hold us.
Alongside her art practice, Ceara has been building altars since childhood, gathering elemental offerings and creating spaces of reflection and prayer. Whether intimate or monumental, her practice is always in service of creating space—sacred, subtle, and alive—where we might meet ourselves and the world anew.

Subtle Practice founder Alma Tetto sits in conversation with Ceara who shares how a natural practice of collecting and relating to materials from the natural world evolved into an intentional practice of creating altars in her home and studio, and how this radically transformed both her creative practice and her relationship to self.
In conversation, they explore the nature of sacred space, the practice of receiving guidance from the natural world and in visionary and imaginative practice, and Ceara so eloquently describes how aligning with the cycles and seasons opens us to powerful currents that work through us, opening our creative inquiries and intentions like seeds that inform our inner growth.
